Closure during the covid-19 outbreak:
- UPDATE -
June 21st, 2020
On March 16th, after 6 years in business, Breathe Parkour took a step we never anticipated, and closed our doors. We knew we were doing this with the public's best interest in mind, but we were unsure of what this meant for our future. During this time, many of you chose to keep your membership active, and for this, we can't thank you enough.
On June 9th, the Alberta Government provided detailed instructions on Sports and Recreation's "Return to Play" guidelines, which allowed us to reopen as early as June 12th.
Although we were extremely excited to reopen, and begin to see our Parkour family again, we decided it was, once again, in the public's best interest to remain closed for a couple extra weeks to ensure we could properly prepare.
In that time, we have rehired and retrained staff, revamped our cleaning processes, and created a new class schedule that allows for greater social distancing and introduces "cohorting". The whole Breathe Parkour team is proud to say that we will be opening, with confidence, for camp programming on Monday, June 22nd, followed by classes on Tuesday, June 23rd, in full compliance with, and in many circumstances exceeding, AHS guidelines.
In the coming days you, as an existing or suspended member, can expect to be contacted by phone & email, if you haven't been already, to go over your options moving forward. For those of you who have kept your membership active during our closure, thank you for your support! You'll be contacted first for priority space in our new schedule, followed shortly by those of you who are currently suspended.
We understand that there was a lot of anxiety about the future when we gave our members the opportunity to suspend back in March, and we recognize that for many, that anxiety may still exist. Although we are confident in our ability to adhere to AHS guidelines, and are therefore reopening and reactivating memberships, we want to encourage anyone who isn't quite ready, to speak with us about options moving forward. We have flexible options that we hope will get everyone back on their timeline.
It's been a long 4 months but we are looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces again and overcoming these new obstacles together.
The Breathe Team
- UPDATE -
June 9th, 2020
After being closed for nearly 4 months, we're happy to say that we've been given the green light to move forward with some restricted programming. Although we aren't able to offer our community all of the services we want to, we are proud of the work Albertans have done to collectively come out of this pandemic, and will continue to act reasonably to make sure that hard work isn't squandered. As we continue to show progress, we hope to continue to ramp up our services, get back to doing what we love.
For now, please check out our CAMPS page for information on our day camp programs. We hope this scratches the Parkour itch for many of you, and offers a bit of exercise and refrain from the tedium of lock down.
In the coming weeks, we will be sending out emails with more information about reactivating memberships for those on suspension, and redeeming your personal training vouchers for those in our community who had the ability to continue to support us throughout this period. We can't thank you all enough.
Now, let's all safely return to play.
MARCH 16th, 2020
Notice to the valued members of our community
In these unprecedented times, Breathe Parkour is taking action to ensure the safety, well being, and health of our community, now and for the long term.
Opening on January 1st, 2011, Breathe Parkour has been promoting the development of our sport in our community for nearly a decade. We’ve been proud of the service we’ve offered, and the athletes we’ve seen develop in our gyms and through our programs.
With the announcement of the local state of emergency in Calgary, as of March 16th, 2020, Breathe Parkour will be closing our doors immediately, until such time as it is safe to reopen. As a small, locally owned and operated business, this was a very difficult decision which will have long lasting, uncertain effects on our community, our employees, and our business.
Rest assured that we are confident this situation will be temporary, and are looking forward to providing a world class experience in the near future. Until such time as we are able to reopen, we are placing all scheduled services back onto people’s accounts for future use. We have also included a suspension form, in the event that you would like to place your membership on hold for the time being. All suspension fees will be waived during this period. Simply complete the form and send it to email@example.com for processing.
That being said, these are unprecedented times which call for unprecedented levels of communication and cooperation, and so we would like to request assistance from our community. If you are able to continue to offer support through this time it would be incredibly helpful and supportive if you leave your membership active during our closure. We know this is a big ask, and understand if it’s not possible. As our way of thanking you for that support, we will offer a personal training session for each full month you leave your membership active, to be used once we reopen.
As a small business that has prided ourselves on our sustainable practices, this is difficult to ask, but we know that the support of our community through this troubled time will ensure that our transition back to normalcy is quick, and gives us the best chance to endure this unexpected situation.
In the meantime, please stay tuned to our social media channels to get updated information on the situation as it pertains to the closure, as well as a “training tips for those at home” series we are planning on putting out.
As always, we are here to answer any questions or concerns you might have. The best way to reach us during this time will be via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay safe and healthy,
The Breathe Parkour Team
